In 2002, the communities of Lorette, Ile des Chenes, St. Adolphe, Grande Pointe and Vermette amalgamated their baseball/softball clubs to form SEINE RIVER MINOR BALL (SRMB).
SRMB was formed to give the children aged 4 to 18 in the surrounding communities an opportunity to play baseball/softball within their community area, in their own age group and at a level comparable to their abilities. In 2011 SRMB expanded their constitution to include Junior age players.
All of the communities that represent SRMB are within 30 minutes driving distance from Winnipeg and each other. The SRMB softball club plays in the Bonivital League in south Winnipeg and the hardball club plays in the Carillon League in the Steinbach area.
In 2010 SRMB took the necessary steps to set-up an in-house league for the Learn to Play (LTP) Program for our youngest players, allowing them to hold all of their practices and play all of their games in Ile des Chenes.
SRMB home playing field is the Optimist Park in Ile des Chenes which has seven diamonds - 3 softball and 4 hardball. The Optimist Park has a modern canteen, bathroom and equipment storage facilities, roofed dug-outs and fenced fields.
